Description
Tan-y-braich is a two-storey house built with locally sourced stone rubble, partially rendered with mortar, and topped with a slate roof. It features two bays and includes a general living room, a parlour, and a back pantry, with a lean-to extension at the rear. To the west, the house is extended by various farm buildings, some of which are partially collapsed. At right angles to the south front, there is a two-bay building that forms the east side of a small stone-walled front garden, which contains a well and an iron pump.
The front door leads into the main living room, which has a stone floor, a large gable end stack with an interior oven, and a simply chamfered cross ceiling beam with exposed joists. There is a boarded partition separating the living room from the parlour, with the pantry located behind it. The staircase features simple stick balusters and a pole handrail, and there are boarded doors throughout. The first floor has coved matchboarded ceilings, with the main trusses springing low from the walls, which are also boarded.
