Description
The gatehouse at Rhiwaedog is a two-storey structure built of well-coursed masonry, featuring a slate roof with advanced eaves and verges, and a tall stack on the left (east) gable with dripstones and capping. It is symmetrically designed, with the main elevation facing north and consisting of three bays, highlighted by a broad central gable. The central doorway is elevated by three steps and has a 4-centred head made of radiating voussoirs. There are flanking windows and a window in the gable above, all of which are modern three-light timber casements, with similar ground floor windows on each gable return.
The interior was not accessible during the survey in June 2004, but a previous listing description from 1966 notes that it features a roof of unusual construction with tie beams and wind braces.
