Description

Cynthog-Isaf is a vernacular one-and-a-half-storey former house-and-byre farmstead. It is constructed of rubble with boulder foundations and features a whitened front elevation. The roof is heavily grouted slate with squat end chimneys on the farmhouse section and simple capping. There is an off-centre gabled porch with stone side walls and a timber roof and gable, the latter being boarded. Inside the porch, there is a slatestone bench and a boarded inner door. On either side of the porch are window openings with 20th-century steel-framed glazing, and the upper floor windows are tucked under the eaves.

To the left, there is the byre section, which was altered in the later 19th century. This section has an entrance on the right with a boarded door and a 4-pane casement window to the left, both featuring cambered brick heads made of yellow stock brick. Beyond this is a cart bay with a segmental arch, also constructed of stock brick. The rear elevation is unwhitened and has a 6-pane 19th-century sash window in the centre, along with a rubble dairy outshut to the far left. The interior was not inspected during the survey.
