Description
Pont Aberglaslyn is a large single-span road bridge, approximately 15 meters long, constructed of rubble. It features a wide segmental arch with rough-dressed voussoirs that are recessed below the arch rings made of narrow stones. On the upstream side, there is a plain, flat stringcourse located below the parapet, while on the downstream side, the voussoirs are particularly long and the stringcourse is gently pointed above the arch. The bridge has a flat carriageway with slab-coped parapets that are splayed at the western approaches and follow the curve of the road to the east.
At the former end of the bridge, there are inserted milestones, likely from the late 19th century or early 20th century, made of slatestone with inscribed letters and figures. The milestone on the downstream parapet reads: "To Portmadog 6 Miles." On the upstream side, there are two milestones; the first is inscribed: "To Beddgelert 1 1/4 Miles," and the second reads: "To Penrhyndeudraeth 6 Miles."
Curved rubble revetment walls extend from the parapets on both sides for about 25 meters, following the course of the road.
