Description
The agricultural range at Pen-y-Bont is an L-shaped structure, partly two stories high, built from rubble with hipped slate roofs and tiled ridges. It features dressed slate lintels above openings and finely-tooled, squared quoins. On the south side, there is a plain boarded door on the left and a wide boarded cart entrance on the right. Above these, three equally-spaced windows with 4-pane glazing and projecting sills are located under the eaves.
The west side, which faces the road, has an upper entrance with a deeply-recessed boarded door accessed by a flight of four concrete steps and two slate steps. There is a similar entrance on the west return of the projecting arm, although this one does not have steps. To the left, the range steps down to a single-story section, with weathercoursing at the junction. There is also a stepped upper entrance leading to an early 20th-century red brick gabled loading bay, which has a recessed boarded door.
On the east side, facing the farmyard, there is a boarded stable door leading into the storeyed section, flanked by windows on both floors. The windows are 12-pane sashes, although the lower sections are missing on the upper windows and boarded on the ground floor. Additional openings on the lower section to the right include a window, door, window, and door, which were formerly four entrances, with piggeries beyond. The north return on the farmyard side has a boarded door on the ground floor to the left, and an upper entrance on the right accessed by a 20th-century metal stair.
