Description

The O.M. Edwards Memorial Gateway is an arched gateway constructed between short sections of walling, featuring a wrought metal gate. The main structure of the archway is made of cast concrete, accented with polished granite dressings that highlight the keystone and the spandrels of the arch. It has a simple architrave with a chamfered plinth and plain imposts that support a shallow entablature. The arch includes raking voussoirs and a keystone carved from a single block along with the spandrels. Inscribed on the keystone is the text 'Codwyd y porth hwn er cof am Syr O.M. Edwards 1858-1920'. The gate itself is designed as a winged angel crafted from wrought metalwork.
