Description
Bron-y-wern is a two-storey building of traditional character, featuring a three-window range house on the left (south) and a single-window wing on the right, which was likely a service wing and formerly housed a Post Office. The building is constructed of coursed rubble masonry, with large stones used for the quoins and lintels. It has a slate roof with stone copings and rectangular stacks that have dripstones and capping; there are gable stacks and a ridge stack that define the extent of the house. The openings are fitted with modern timber replacement casements that have two lights, and the first-floor windows are located in gabled half dormers. The principal elevation faces east towards the road, with a central doorway and all openings offset to the right (north) end. The single-window section has a doorway on the left (south) and a bay window on the right, which is covered by a slate-roofed porch supported by stone piers. The first-floor window in this section is centrally placed. The interior was not inspected during the survey conducted in June and July 2003.
