Description
Pont Dysynni is a bridge built of local rubble stone. It features four semi-circular arches, each with a span of 6.3 meters, made of squared voussoirs that are set back under a square profile slate regulating course. The arches rise 1.8 meters above the water. The bridge has flush spandrels and a parapet, which is capped with stone flags. The water piers are supported on starlings, with cutwaters that are approximately 120 degrees on each side. From these cutwaters, pilaster buttresses rise to the coping, with one buttress offset. The roadway is 3.75 meters wide between the 0.43-meter parapets and has a hump over the river spans, giving the bridge a slight 'S'-curve in its plan. An iron plate by Isaac of Portmadoc is set into the eastern parapet, prohibiting locomotives from crossing due to the bridge's insufficient strength.
