Description

This is a terrace of six single-fronted, two-storey houses, numbered 2-12 Holywell Terrace. The houses are built of square coursed rubble stone with graded slate roofs, although the slates on number 12 have been replaced with thinner, square slates. The stacks are roughcast, except for a brick stack on the left side of number 12. Each property’s doorway, located on the right side, features a round head; the individual stones (voussoirs) of the arch are visible at number 12 but are concealed by render on the other houses. Each doorway has a painted tympanum above a replaced door. The windows have stone lintels in the lower storey and are placed beneath the eaves in the upper storey. The original windows have been replaced with mainly small-pane, top-hung casements. The right gable end of number 2 has been pebble-dashed and includes an external stack. The left gable end of number 12 is of rubble stone. Rear extensions have been added to the properties. The terrace belongs to the group 2-12 Holywell Terrace.
