Description
The bridge at the mouth of the Afon Ogwen, partly located in the Llandygai community, is a Grade II* listed structure. It is constructed of cast iron with rubblestone abutments that end in square corner piers made of more regularly coursed blocks. The eastern bank's piers extend beyond the retaining riverbank wall into the river, while the western piers are situated on top of the retaining wall. The bridge features a single span with a wide segmental arch, which is formed by three cast-iron girders and spandrels. The girders have a criss-cross pattern, and the spandrels display simple diamond shapes that decrease in size. A simple iron handrail with stick balusters runs along the bridge, and there is shaped bracing on the south side. A plate at road level on the north side is inscribed with "CAST AT PENYDARAN IRONWORKS GLAMORGANSHIRE MDCCCXXI".
