Description
Plas Ynys Tywyn is a late Georgian, two-storey, five-window house constructed from large blocks of local slate-stone arranged in regular courses. It features a slate roof with projecting eaves and a stone stack located to the right of centre, marking the end of the original building. The lower storey includes an original continuous lean-to and a porch situated to the left of centre, though it is centrally placed within the original structure. The porch is framed by a simple freestone surround with a Tudor-arched head and parapet, and it has a replacement glazed door. The windows are replacement 12-pane horned sashes fitted in their original openings. The lower storey has four windows, and there is a full-height joint on the right side that separates two phases of the building; beyond this joint is a half-glazed boarded door. On the left side, the lean-to has been extended to create a garage that spans the left gable end, which features a sash window positioned to the left of centre. The right gable end is pebble-dashed and includes small-pane horned sash windows: one window to the right in the lower storey and two upper-storey windows.
At the rear, there are small-pane sash windows similar to those at the front, along with some enlarged or inserted windows. Additionally, there is a one-storey projection with a balcony at the right end. The property has been subdivided into a house and an office.
