Description
The Oakleys is a former house and hotel dating from the 18th century. It is a two-storey building with three bays, plus an additional bay set back to the left, which was originally an office. The structure is built from large blocks of coursed local stone that have been painted white, and it features a hipped slate roof that incorporates bands of fish-scale and diamond slates. There are two rendered stacks on the main house and an end stack on the office.
The former eastern entrance front has a one-storey flat-roofed projection, above which are four-pane sash windows. This flat-roof extension extends across the one-bay office set back to the left, which has a two-pane sash window in the upper storey. The end wall of the office has two replacement upper-storey windows.
The northern front, which has more recently been used as the entrance, also consists of three bays and features two-pane sash windows. The right-hand bay has an inserted entrance that is accessed through a shallow flat-roof half-glazed porch with a glazed door. The rear of the building, facing west, is slate hung and displays diamond-pattern slates in the upper storey. It has a central replacement window in the lower storey and a two-pane sash window above. Set back to the right, the rear of the office is rendered and includes an added one-storey lean-to. The building has not been inspected.
