Description

Bridge Cottage is a single-storey, double-fronted cottage of an L-shaped plan, likely dating to the 18th century. The walls are clad in slate, and the hipped slate roof features a wooden cornice with a chevron frieze, moulded finials, and slate-hung stacks at each end. Bands of hexagonal slates are incorporated into the walls, roof, and stacks. The front of the cottage has a central, low gable over the porch, which itself has a hipped, lean-to roof. A replacement panel door is located on the right side of the porch. A five-light window with plain wood mullions is centrally positioned on the front, and a similar two-light window is found on the left side. The windows in the main part of the cottage are replacements, but they sit within original openings. A lower extension on the right side is built using matching materials and has a hipped roof. It features a small replacement window to the front and a replacement half-glazed door set under a gable on its side wall. A later, flat-roof extension is located behind this, concealed by an attached garden wall. A two-pane sash window on the left side wall, facing the river, marks the point where the building was extended. Not inspected.
