Description

The chapel located southwest of Vaynol Farm is a Grade II listed building constructed from rubble stonework with freestone dressings and a slate roof. It is a rectangular single-cell structure featuring a porch that is unusually positioned at the blank west end, beneath a bellcote. The building has deep quarter-round moulded stone eaves cornices that end in gabled kneelers. The windows display a mix of styles, including Perpendicular window tracery with V-jointed quoined surrounds. The side elevations each have two square-headed, four-light windows with returned and stilted labels, along with a three-light reticulated window on the east side. The entrance to the gabled porch features a four-centred arch.

Inside, the chapel boasts a five-bay open roof supported by arch-braced trusses that spring from stone corbels, along with a deep stone cornice. This chapel is notable for its original furnishings, which include seating with cabriole-like bench ends and separate pews flanking the west door, each with individual seats set into Gothick ogee-headed niches. Additionally, there is a tall octagonal pulpit and a wood Gothic altar rail.
