Description
The farm buildings at Bron-Eifion Farm are constructed from coursed rubble stone and feature slated roofs with wide eaves. They comprise a double range of clear-span buildings that run approximately north to south, with a small double-pitched wing on the west and lean-to pigsties at the south end of the east range, which has been extended in brick against the west range. The east front facing the covered straw yard includes rooflights and heavy square stone piers. At the southeast corner, there is a cartshed set at right angles. The buildings have ventilated windows and sturdy joinery details, including framed and battened doors, all painted red.
The west range is divided by a central two-bay food preparation area equipped with bins and has direct door access to two rooms in the western wing, likely intended as feed stores. Doors from the preparation area lead to feed walks; one in the four-bay north wing serves six slate-slab walled loose boxes or stalls, which are extended with iron railings, and an access walk along the east side, where two doors lead into the east range. This passage features a large clayware sink in one corner. Additionally, from the preparation area, a corresponding feed walk leads into the south range, which contains three pens and a large room at the end with an external door to the west, likely used for storing feedstuffs for the pigs that were kept in three sties across the hipped south end of the east range. The east range mainly consists of covered straw yards, open fronted to the outer yard on the east, with three bays on each side of the central cobbled and gated service area. At the south end, a feeding walk runs against the back wall and returns in front of the pigsties. The north end of this range is lofted and currently serves as a farm workers' mess room, accessed by an external flight of steps. The roof trusses feature king posts and struts, with outer raking struts. At the south end of the west range, the pig sties have been enlarged in brick.
