Description
Ynysgain Fawr is a Grade II listed building that features a main range facing northwest, with a later wing added to the southeast. The main elevation is constructed of well coursed and squared stone, while the gable wall is made of rougher stone. The building has a slate roof and consists of two storeys with a three-window range, forming an unequally divided two-unit plan that includes an off-centre doorway. The ground floor has 12-pane sash windows with horns, while the upper floor features hornless 9-pane sashes. The doorway is a plank door with a narrow overlight, and all openings have rough stone lintels.
At the rear, there is a long wing built of rougher stonework, also two storeys high, featuring a two-window range with 16-pane sashes on the northeast face and 4-pane sashes on the southwest. Adjoining the original range to the northeast is a single-storey outbuilding made of roughly coursed and squared rubble, with well coursed stone in the gable end. This outbuilding has a graded slate roof with projecting kneelers at the gable. The southeast elevation facing the yard has a central doorway with a rough stone lintel, an inserted window to the left, and ventilation slits to the right and in the gable end.
Inside, the house has a small entrance and stair hall, along with a two-room plan. The rear wing contains a large single room, which has now been subdivided.
