Description

The lychgate located to the south of the Church of St Engan is constructed from rubble stone and features a broad full-height opening at both ends, topped with a slate gabled roof. The roof slopes down lower on the left side of the churchyard front, where there is a low door with a slab lintel. At the northwest end, there is a broad and tall wooden gate from the mid-19th century, which includes a mid-rail and dog-bars. The roof is supported by three oak collar-beam trusses, with the central truss being arch-braced. It has double purlins, and all the timber used in the structure is reused, possibly originally from the 16th century.
