Description
Nos 5 and 6 Market Square form a reflected pair of buildings dating from the Victorian era. They each have two-storey, one-window fronts, with No 5 being rendered and featuring a full-height splayed bay window, along with a band course between the floors. No 7, adjacent to them, has a pebbledashed three-storey, two-window front, with a margin at the corner and cill and lintel bands. Both buildings have slate roofs and rendered chimney stacks on No 7. The entrance to No 5 is a modern glazed door, while No 6 has a six-panel door with an overlight and a small pane cellar window.
No 7 boasts an overall Victorian shopfront, complete with a cornice, pilasters, and broad sash windows flanking a central double door entrance. The pilasters and stallriser are adorned with Art Nouveau style tulip patterned tiles, which are also used internally to create dado and cornice bands. The left corner of No 7 is rounded below the second floor, with a rendered left side and a similar rear. No 6 features sash windows on its rubble rear, and there is a rubble wall between No 5 and No 62 High Street, which includes a boarded door.
