Description

The building comprises a pair of three-storey, two-window shops with living accommodation above. It dates from the 18th century, with alterations in subsequent periods. The front walls are rendered, with roofs covered in thick slates and dentilled eaves. Number 17 is slightly higher than Number 15, and features a roughcast stack on the front roof slope between the two properties. A skylight has been added to the rear of Number 15. The middle floor windows are 12-pane hornless sashes, while those on the upper floor are 9-pane hornless sashes. At ground floor level, Number 15 has a front elevation featuring panelled pilasters leading to a doorway on the right side, a replaced stallboard, a two-light plate glass window, and a fascia with a dentilled cornice that projects above the doorway, where consoles are decorated with carved heads. The doorway itself has a replaced door and overlight. Number 17 retains an earlier cornice but features a former doorway to the left, now infilled as part of an inserted shop window. A further doorway, with a replaced door, is located to the right. The rear elevation of Number 15 is rubble stone with replaced windows, while the rear elevation of Number 17 has been enlarged, also with replaced windows.
