Description
The out-buildings at Home Farm, Plas Boduan, are a complex of single and two-storey structures arranged in two C-plan ranges, oriented approximately north to south, with central yard areas. They are constructed from local granite rubble-stone and feature purple slate roofs.
In the northern court, there is a group of two-storey buildings on the west side. The left side features a large stable/cart-house block from the late 19th century. This block has a central broad gabled projection with a brick elliptical arched doorway and a four-pane window to the right. Above, there are paired windows with slatted lower halves and 10-pane upper halves, as well as blank narrow loops on each side. Each wing has one similar window above the ground floor door, which includes side-lights and stone slab lintels. To the right end, there is a lean-to with broad double doors and a window above. On the east side of the northern court, there is a barn on the right, which appears to be the earliest building in the complex. It has a central door with a stone voussoired cambered head and a loop to the left, along with stone steps on the right end leading to a loft door. To the left, there is a cart-shed with a hipped roof, featuring two large openings with brick cambered heads and slatted double doors. The north side includes a single-storey range with two cart openings to the right, both with slatted doors and stone slab lintels, as well as a door and window to the left.
In the southern court, there is a lofted building on the west side, which has a bellcot on the north gable and a brick chimney on the ridge. The east front features three fixed light small-paned cross-windows and a door to the left on the ground floor, all with stone lintels. Above, there are four loops under the eaves and a centre gabled dormer with a small brick roundel. The attached south range has a north front cart-opening to the right and two single doors with a window between, all with brick cambered openings. The window has slats below a 10-pane fixed top half.
The barn includes a threshing floor and oak collar trusses with pegged joints, while all other buildings have 19th-century king-post trussed roofs.
