Description
This is a terrace of two-storey brick houses with a hipped slate roof and brick stacks, forming part of a larger group at 1-11 Stanley Street. The windows are detailed with dressed limestone surrounds featuring monolithic jambs and round heads with keystones to the lower storey. The two-light windows have wooden mullions, small-pane casements, and transoms in the lower storey.
No 1 is set at right angles and faces Wexham Street, presenting a three-window front with the entrance located to the right of the centre. The entrance has a boarded door, a round-headed overlight, and a plain brick arch. The main Stanley Street elevation is characterised by smaller houses arranged in pairs of three bays, accessed via shared central arched passages that also lead to the back yards, which have boarded doors. Some of these central bays have blocked windows in the upper storey. The left-hand window in the lower storey is inscribed with “Stanley Street” to the arched head. No 2 is a smaller house accessed by a passage shared with No 1. Numbers 3 and 4 form a pair, and No 5 is also a smaller house accessed by a passage that leads to the rear of No 6. Numbers 6 and 7 are symmetrical, three-bay houses with central round-headed entrances featuring boarded doors and plain overlights. The window above the doorway is blind. A passage on the right-hand side of No 7 leads to the rear and to the entrance of No 8. Numbers 9 and 10 form a smaller pair. No 11 is another three-bay house, similar in appearance to Nos 6 and 7, and features a pebble-dashed right-hand side wall with two windows and a boarded door to the right.
The rear of the properties has small-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows.
