Description

This mid-19th century rectory is a two-storey building with a two-window front and a shorter service wing at the rear (west) and a storeyed porch on the northeast side. It is constructed from rubble masonry, with the main elevation facing east being smoothly rendered and featuring ashlar scoring. The right (north) side is also rendered and aligns with the service wing, while the left side is hung with slate. The main house has a hipped roof with tall rectangular brick chimneys, while the service wing has a gabled roof with rectangular brick stacks, including one ridge stack positioned to the right of the first-floor doorway and a short gable stack at the west end.

The principal elevation overlooks a garden to the east and includes a two-window range with large tripartite windows featuring small-paned hornless sashes. There are similarly styled windows on the right (west) side of the north return. The storeyed porch on the left has an entrance through a panelled door in the east wall, with the north wall containing an 8-pane fixed light for the ground floor and a 6-pane hornless sash window above.

The service wing, located on the right, is also a two-window range with small-paned horned sash windows; the first floor has a 12-pane window directly under the eaves, while the ground floor features smaller lights. The left (south) return has two ground floor 8-pane hornless sash windows on the left and a 6-pane window on the right for the first floor. The service wing is set back, with a rear door to the rectory raised by four steps in the northeast corner of an enclosed slabbed yard. This door is located in the west wall, with a tripartite window to the right and a blocked doorway below that has a cambered brick head. The service wing also includes a ground floor doorway on the left (west) end, a first-floor doorway accessed by external stone steps to the right, and a single ground floor 12-paned horned sash window on the right.

At right angles to the left (west) end of the service wing are the remains of a roofless privy block, which has two doorways with stone lintels offset to the north end. The interior was not viewed during the survey.
