Description
The Old Police Station, now serving as Youth Association premises, is a late Georgian style building. It is two storeys high with a basement and features a three-window front. The hipped slate roof has a later brick stack positioned at the left eaves. The building is constructed with greensand facings and has pale freestone dressings, along with a rubbed red brick treatment at the eaves and lintels, and a plinth course.
The central sash window is situated above an inserted boarded door that leads up steps. The outer openings have been blocked, except for those on the ground floor, which includes a square barred opening above a recessed gaol door. The rear elevation displays a central cut-down stack, sash windows, and a second square barred opening that leads to the lock-ups. An outside stone staircase can be accessed through an opening in the boundary wall to the right.
