Description

The 'Old House' at Bodrwyn, along with its attached agricultural range, is an agricultural building with an irregular layout. The main section is a two-storey former farmhouse that features a projecting stair block at the rear and a lofted cartshed at the southern end. A single-storey cowhouse is attached to the southern end, with additional cowhouses extending to the front and rear. A lofted cartshed range is positioned at right angles to the northern rear of the former farmhouse.

Constructed from local rubble masonry, the building incorporates gritstone dressings on the farmhouse and attached cartsheds, while the cowhouses have brick dressings. The roofs are made of slate, with some areas heavily grouted, and the cowhouses feature red clay ridge tiles and tiled copings. The lofted cartshed has a tiled ridge and copings, while the farmhouse is topped with tall grit ashlar gable stacks.

The former farmhouse and cartshed lack their original doors and windows, with many openings blocked or partially blocked, some featuring later windows. The cowhouses have boarded doors and several small-paned lights; the cowhouse at the southern end of the house and cartshed has a two-unit plan with a central door, while the others have single doorways offset to the eastern end. The lofted cartshed at the rear of the old house contains two cartshed bays at the western end and a centrally placed loft access above, with boarded openings along the southern wall and brick-headed openings cut into the northern wall.
