Description
The Threshing Barn of Henblas is a large rectangular structure built from local rubble masonry, featuring ashlar dressings, massive quoins, and boulder foundations. It has opposing central doorways with segmental voussoir heads and chamfered jambs. Above the eastern doorway, there is a much-weathered inscribed date stone displaying a lion rampant reguardant along with the initials and date M / H E 1733. Smaller doorways, which have large chamfered stone lintels and chamfered jambs, are offset to the northern end. The barn includes ventilation slits arranged in two rows of ten along the eastern and western elevations, and two rows of three in the gables, with a single vent above two in the gable apex. The lower row features a continuous sill band that acts as a dripcourse, and the northern gable has a weathered finial. Currently, the barn is completely roofless, although some original fallen timbers remain. The barn consists of three large bays, with some original tie beams that still have angled braces and wall posts. The eastern door retains partial remains of the original studded boarded door, along with a single hinge that has a splayed end.
