Description
The gate piers and flanking walls at the southwest end of Stanley Street are tall structures made of freestone, featuring a complex design. Each pier has pilasters on every face topped with lotus-leaf capitals, deep moulded caps that include a dentil frieze, and are crowned with urns. The outer sides of the piers have narrow panels topped with scrolls. The original central wooden doors are no longer present. On the left and right sides, there are screen walls constructed of hand-moulded brick with freestone copings.
From Stanley Street, the left side features a round-headed gateway with a stone surround and a keystone, which includes an iron gate with dog bars and radiating bars above. Beyond this gateway, the wall connects to 12 Stanley Street. On the right side, there is a similar round-headed opening, but the ironwork is missing. Adjacent to this is a brick wall that immediately abuts on the right, and then the wall curves back around to meet the garden wall of 13 Stanley Street. The wall is interrupted by a vehicular gateway that has square brick piers.
