Description

This is a terrace of two-storey brick houses with a hipped slate roof and brick stacks. The windows are characterised by dressed limestone surrounds with monolithic jambs, and round-headed arches with keystones in the lower storey. Two-light windows feature wooden mullions, small-pane casements, and transoms in the lower storey. Number 1 is set at right angles and faces Wexham Street, presenting a three-window front with the entrance located to the right of centre. The entrance has a boarded door with a round-headed overlight and a plain brick arch. The main Stanley Street elevation consists of smaller houses arranged in pairs of three bays, accessed through shared central arched passages that also lead to the back yards, which have boarded doors. Some of the central bays contain blocked windows in the upper storey. The left-hand window in the lower storey is inscribed with 'Stanley Street' above the arched head. Number 2 is a smaller house accessed via a passage shared with Number 1. Numbers 3 and 4 form a pair, while Number 5 is also a smaller house accessed by a shared passage leading to the rear of Number 6. Numbers 6 and 7 are both symmetrical three-bay houses, with central round-headed entrances featuring boarded doors and plain overlights. The window positioned directly above the doorway is blind. A passage on the right-hand side of Number 7 leads to the rear and the entrance to Number 8. Numbers 9 and 10 form another smaller pair. Number 11 is a three-bay house, similar in style to numbers 6 and 7. Its right-hand side wall, pebble-dashed and containing two windows, features a boarded door on the right. The rear of the terrace incorporates small-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows. The houses belong to a group encompassing numbers 1 to 11 Stanley Street.
