Description

The terrace of two-storey brick houses at 1-11 Stanley Street has a hipped slate roof and brick stacks. Windows are characterised by dressed limestone surrounds with monolithic jambs and round heads, with keystones to the lower-storey windows. The two-light windows feature wooden mullions, small-pane casements, and transoms in the lower storey. Number 1 is set at right angles and faces Wexham Street, forming a three-window front with the entrance to the right of centre, accessed via a boarded door with a round-headed overlight and a plain brick arch.

The main Stanley Street elevation consists of smaller houses arranged in pairs of three bays, accessed through shared central arched passages that also lead to the back yards, where boarded doors provide access. Some of these central bays contain blocked windows in the upper storey. The left-hand window in the lower storey of the terrace is inscribed ‘Stanley Street’ above the arched head. Number 2 is a smaller house reached by a passage shared with Number 1. Numbers 3 and 4 form a pair, and Number 5 is also a smaller house reached by a passage leading to the rear of Number 6. Numbers 6 and 7 are symmetrical three-bay houses with central round-headed entrances, boarded doors, plain overlights, and a blind window above the entrance. A passage on the right-hand side of Number 7 provides access to the rear and the entrance to Number 8. Numbers 9 and 10 form a smaller pair, and Number 11 is a three-bay house similar to Numbers 6 and 7. The right-hand side wall of Number 11, featuring two windows and a pebble-dashed finish, has a boarded door located to the right.

The rear of the terrace incorporates small-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows. The terrace forms a group with 1-11 Stanley Street.
