Description
30 Calder Road is an early 19th-century single-storey, three-bay gabled cottage that is part of a continuous terrace and features a two-bay former smithy workshop. The building is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone.
On the southeast elevation, there are three widely spaced bays, with a door in the center that has a later canopy above it, and windows in the flanking bays. To the left is the two-bay smithy, which has a window in each bay. At the rear, there is a later lean-to extension. The cottage has timber sash and case windows with a four-pane glazing pattern. The steeply pitched roof is covered with red pantiles and has a slate eaves easing course. The ridge and gablehead feature ashlar stacks.
Inside, there is a decorative cast-iron horseshoe grate. The boundary walls include a low rubble wall at the front garden with semi-circular coping, which curves around to a taller square-coped wall that has a pedestrian gate.
