Linlithgow 42, 44 High Street

Linlithgow 42, 44 High Street is an early 17th century, three-storey and attic, three-bay traditional gable-fronted tenement that was restored in 1958. It features a pend and shop at the ground level, with a crowstepped gable and chimney. The building is constructed from cream coursed Pardovan sandstone rubble, with ashlar dressings on the north elevation.

On the south entrance elevation, there is a central door with a wide round-arched pend to the right, which has chamfered reveals, and a window to the left. The first and second floors have regular fenestration, with one window in the attic. There is a segmental-arched entrance leading to an enclosed forestair with a red pantiled roof at the outer left.

The north rear elevation includes a two-storey wing with a pantiled roof. The building has 12-pane sash and case windows and a T-plan roof covered with thick grey slates. The interior has been gutted.
