Description

3-4 St Magdalene's, located at St Magdalene's Distillery on Edinburgh Road in Linlithgow, is an earlier 19th-century building that was altered in 1989 for residential use.

The east block features a three-storey square-plan kiln topped with a pagoda roof, which is connected to a two-storey, 15-bay wing on the right. The exterior is made of coursed cream sandstone rubble with polished ashlar margins. There is an eaves course and a band course on the three-storey block. The windows vary in size and are irregularly placed at the ground level, becoming more symmetrical on the first floor, with fanlights incorporated into the pagoda roof.

On the street elevation, there is a large segmental-headed opening on the outer left, which has been glazed in. The end 10-bay block to the right is slightly recessed.

The south entrance elevation features a two-storey wing that is harled and divided into individual flats, with a modern forestair leading to the first floor of the three-storey block. The building has modern glazing, a grey slate roof, and a sandstone stack on the right. The pagoda roof includes a leaded pyramidal section with a louvred ventilator at the apex and a weathervane.
