234-236 High Street, Linlithgow

232 High Street in Linlithgow is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay tenement featuring classical detailing. The building includes a carriage pend and a shop on the ground floor. It is constructed from cream sandstone rubble, with the ground floor rusticated on the south elevation and the first floor rendered and lined. Notable architectural features include a base course, a cornice, and a blocking course with a decorative tablet at the center. The first-floor windows have architraves and decorated cills, and the corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated quoins.

On the south entrance elevation, there is a tripartite shop to the left, a fanlit door at the center flanked by large shop windows, and a segmental-arched pend to the right with iron runners set into the setts. The north rear elevation has three bays and a projecting lean-to stair block.

The building has 12-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof with ashlar coped skews, rendered gable stacks, and a single modern rooflight on the south face, along with three rooflights at the rear and two modern rooflights.
