Description

This bridge, designed by H E Milner of Westminster and dated 1895, spans a deep valley over the Overtoun Burn, featuring a large round arch flanked by smaller pedestrian arches. It is constructed of rough-faced ashlar with polished dressings, keystones, and moulded arch rings. The arches are corniced at the impost level and supported by triangular buttresses that are corbelled below the parapet, rising upwards as semi-circular pedestrian refuges. The bridge has moulded parapet coping with domed caps. A pierced balustrade at the top of the steps leading down to the garden connects the bridge to the house.
