Description
The granary and sawmill at Drumkinnon Farm, designed by Robert Lugar in the early 19th century, is a two-storey Tudor-Gothic mill building with a rectangular plan. It is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble, featuring ashlar margins and dressings, along with a base course and string course.
The east elevation, which is the main facade, is symmetrical with two bays and showcases a chevron crenellated gable framed by crenellated clasping buttresses. It has a round-headed Y-traceried window at ground level, with smaller windows on the first floor. A string course runs across both floors, stepping as a hoodmould. The gablehead includes a pigeon loft with a triangular ashlar recess and tiered flightholes for 16 pigeons.
On the south side, there are three louvred granary windows to the left, alongside a hoist door flanked by a pair of narrow flights. The door and windows are symmetrically arranged at ground level.
The north side features louvred granary windows at the upper stage, with a door located at the outer right. There is a gabled wheel outshot at the center, and the remains of the cogs from two overshot wheels are still in place. The former sash and case windows, now fixed, have Y-tracery. The building is topped with a grey slate roof.
The sawmill is a single-storey structure with a rectangular plan, characterized by a crenellated parapet and a blank plaque at the center. It has a crenellated clasping buttress on the outer left and an off-centre round-headed doorway to the right, which is equipped with timber boarded gates.
