Description

The sundial at the Park of Drumquhassle, dated 1710, is made of sandstone ashlar and features a columnar design with a horizontal copper dial. The column has a moulded base and a moulded capital at the top, which supports a corniced square-plan dial base. The octagonal dial is inscribed with the words 'Guhellmus Govane de Drumquhassle fecit' ('made by William Govane of Drumquhassle'), along with the inscriptions 'W.G. 1710' and 'K.E. 1710'. It also contains much astrological information. The decorative pointer features three lines of Latin verse inscribed on each side.
