Description
The Dovecot at Park of Drumquhassle dates back to 1711 and features a rectangular plan typical of lectern dovecots. It has a grey slate crowstepped lean-to roof, with the upper crowstep extending from the ridge and corniced with ball finials at both ends. The structure is built from coursed sandstone rubble, accented with sandstone ashlar dressings. There is a mid-height stone rat course and an eaves cornice on the principal (south) elevation, which continues as a rat ledge on the other sides. The openings have flush architraves.
On the principal (south) elevation, there is a central entrance with a timber door and a lintel inscribed with the date '1711'. Above this entrance, there is a window with chamfered reveals. Just above the rat course, there is a row of three entrance holes.
The north, west, and east elevations are blank. The grey slate roof features a double entrance hole at the center, covered by a catslide roof.
Inside, the dovecot contains brick nesting boxes and has a restored timber potence with a central revolving pole that turns on a stone pedestal.
