Description
The Ice House at Kinnell House in Killin is a historically significant structure that was once an important part of the Kinnell Estate. Located a short distance to the east of Kinnell House, it is partly built into the hillside to maintain cool temperatures. The Ice House features a conical chamber made of rubble stone and has a short gabled entrance wing. Dating from the late 18th century, it served as a place to store and preserve food throughout the year. The Ice House is depicted on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey map and is referred to as an 'Old Icehouse' on the second edition.
