Description
The Old Weaving Shed at Deanston Mills is an early 19th-century, single-storey structure. It comprises a plain external screen wall and a vaulted interior divided into 24 compartments, arranged in 4 bays by 6. The building measures approximately 33 feet 6 inches square, supported by cast iron columns and standing 12 feet high. The vaults rise to a height of 6 feet and feature oculi with an 8-foot diameter. They were originally covered with soil intended as a roof garden, and have pitched tar backing. The building predates 1831.
