Description
The Old School, located at Deanston Mills, Deanston, dates from the early 19th century. The original block comprises six bays, with two further two-bay additions to the east and a single-storey addition to the west. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar margins and dressings. The main block features a central wide segmental opening, with two similar blocked openings to the left, and a narrow door in the eastern bay. The eastern additions incorporate modern ground-floor extensions and a small gablet in the right-hand bay. The western addition has quoins, one door, and two windows, with a recessed bay that links it to the main block. The roofs are slated, with a stepped arrangement in the eastern addition. The central block has straight skews and end stacks.
