Description
Mosslaird, now a dwelling-house, is a Neo-Tudor building dated 1850. The building comprises a central single-storey schoolroom with a central towerlet topped by an open octagonal spirelet. This is flanked by two-arch verandahs on either side. Symmetrical two-storey wings extend from the schoolroom, featuring bay windows, front gables, and angle chimneys. The building was likely designed by R. & R. Dickson, who was employed by the Home Drummond family at the time of construction. While not appearing in Heritor's Records, the building's design aligns with Dickson’s work and was potentially commissioned through his involvement with the Kincardine School project. No surviving Home Drummond papers at Register House contain specific references to Mosslaird.
