Description
William Stirling II, 1840. 2-storey, 3-bay, asymmetrical, L-plan gabled villa. Red sandstone rubble with yellow ashlar margins. Long and short quoins, plain, chamfered architraves to openings. Overhanging eaves barge boarded to gables.
NW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: stone steps to centre, astragalled, glazed timber door; bracketed gabled slated, timber canopy above; window to 1st floor. 2-storey, advanced canted bay to left. Fenestrated, gabled bay to right.
SE (REAR) ELEVATION: irregular fenestration, advanced gabled bay to left, single storey, lean-to conservatory; bowed stair tower to re-entrant angle.
NE (SIDE) ELEVATION: gable end; windows to left of ground and 1st floor.
SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Regular fenestration, slightly advanced gabled bay to right.
12-pane, timber-framed, sash and case windows. Grey slates, lead flashing. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Coped gable and ridge stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen 2001.
BOUNDARY WALL: low, rubble with later gatepiers.
