93 Lanark Road, Carstairs

This is a late 19th century terrace of three cottages located on Lanark Road, Carstairs Village. The cottages are built in the Arts and Crafts style and are one storey and attic in height. They are constructed of polychrome brick—red, black, and white—with cream sandstone dressings. The facade is arranged with porches and windows, from left to right, showing a pattern of porch, two windows, porch, one window, and porch. The porches have slated roofs with prominent eaves and barge boards. The steeply pitched roof is slated, partially in a diamond pattern and using two shades of grey. Three mid-skew dormers are present, treated as porches. Chimney stacks are located on the gables and transverse walls between the houses. All windows and doors are modern replacements. Despite the replacement of the windows and doors, the terrace represents a fine example of Arts and Crafts cottages and makes a notable contribution to the character of Carstairs Village.
