District Council Health Office, 32 Miller Road, Ayr

The District Council Health Office, located at 32 Miller Road in Ayr, is a villa built in the later 19th century by J I McDerment. This two-storey, four-bay building features a later two-bay addition on the outer right and is situated on a corner site. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone with a base course, cill courses, an eaves course, and a cornice. The window openings are square-headed and framed with architraves.

On the south (entrance) elevation, there is a balustraded entrance porch with a balcony above, positioned at the penultimate bay to the left. The entrance consists of a two-leaf timber door topped with a letterbox fanlight. Above this, there is a single window aligned with the first floor. To the outer left, a canted bay window is located at ground level, with a tripartite window above it on the first floor. The two bays to the right have single windows at both the ground and first floors. The modern two-bay extension on the outer right also features single windows at both levels.

The windows predominantly consist of plate glass and four-pane timber sash and case designs. The roof is covered with grey slate and includes wallhead and ridge stacks, as well as circular chimney cans.

The interior was not seen during the 1998 inspection.

Flanking the central pedestrian entrance are square-plan iron gatepiers, and a coped boundary wall encloses the site.
