Description
Maybole Old Parish Church, built in 1808 and refurbished in 1882, is a square-plan church located on Cassillis Road in Maybole. The structure is made of squared rubble with ashlar dressings. The tower, positioned at the center of the south wall, features a tall first stage that rises through corbelled eaves to an over sailing blind parapet. Above this, there are four smaller stages, each set back and topped with an obelisk spire. The tower is flanked by tall lancet windows in the inner bays of the church body, with pairs of lancets in the outer bays, including round-headed windows in the gallery. The northwest elevation has similar windows, with two small round-headed lancets replacing the tower. There are stair projections on the east and west sides of the church, and it has a piended slate roof. The tower also houses a bell from 1742.
