Description
The Grapes Hotel, located at 16 Douglas Square, is likely an early 19th century, two-storey, five-bay gabled inn. It features two round-arched doorways and a small ornamental wallhead stack. The building is constructed from roughly coursed squared sandstone and has an eaves course. The windows and doorways are regularly spaced, with raised plain painted ashlar margins. The doors are timber-panelled and include fanlights.
The hotel has timber sash and case windows, with plate glass glazing on the ground floor and four-pane glazing on the first floor. The gablehead stacks are coped ashlar with buff clay cans, and the roof is covered with grey slate.
