Description
Hermitage Bridge, built in 1832 by John and Thomas Smith of Darnick, features two uneven segmental arches that span Hermitage Water. The bridge has central rounded cutwaters, circular end piers, and splayed wing walls on the west side. It is constructed from squared yellow sandstone rubble, with dressed red sandstone voussoirs and a bull-faced sandstone central pier. The bridge is topped with an ashlar-coped parapet.
