Description
The Bridge Over The Teviot in Denholm was constructed by Marshall & Ballantyne in 1864. It features three arches spanning the River Teviot, with tall rounded cutwaters that rise as tapered buttresses to support the parapet. The bridge has splayed wing walls that end in piers topped with piended capstones, and the parapet steps inward over the arches. It is built from squared snecked pink, grey, and yellow mixed sandstone, along with whinstone. The bridge also includes bull-faced voussoirs and an ashlar-coped parapet.
