Description
The Suspension Bridge North Tower in Denholm, built around 1826, consists of a pair of castellated pylons located on the banks of the River Teviot next to the road bridge. The structure is made of mixed sandstone rubble and features base courses. It has tall pointed-arch portals and machicolated band courses that lead to droved ashlar heads, which include cut-out sections and capping stones designed to support chain links over the top of the towers. The pylons also have square-cut chain holes.
