Description
South Lodge at Ravenswood, built around 1824, is likely the work of John and Thomas Smith of Darnick. This single-storey, three-bay lodge features crowstep gables and a castellated porch, along with a tall central chimney stack. The building is harled with ashlar margins and has raised cills. It is situated on a steeply sloping site, with a 20th-century addition at the rear that provides two-storey accommodation, forming a T-plan. There is a lean-to porch at the southwest re-entrant angle.
The lodge predominantly has 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate, and the chimney stack has a stepped cope with octagonal clay cans. The property also features cast-iron rainwater goods.
