Description

Bield is a farmhouse dated 1726 above the door, which was originally a well-known coaching inn or "Change House" on the road to Moffat and Carlisle from Edinburgh. The building features creamwashed plaster on stonework and is L-shaped with two storeys. The wing that faces the road has an attic dormer, and both sections have piended slate roofs. A low L-shaped byre lines the road and creates an open courtyard.
